Hi everyone, I hope you have all had an enjoyable summer and I look forward to seeing you at upcoming FRAA events!  I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on what your Board has been up to. 

First of all, we are currently having discussions with the DEP about expanding the upper TMA.  We have met twice and are planning a third meeting in the next few weeks.  The conversations have been cordial and the DEP has been receptive to our suggestions.  They are planning on holding pubic hearings to get the opinions of fisherman before writing any rule changes for the Farmington.  When the time comes, we will need to fill these meetings with members in support of the TMA expansion.  Further updates will be forth coming.

At this time, Board members are in the process of editing the Farmington River Fishing Guide for a fall printing.  During this run, the printers are also going to computerize the booklet for future editing and printing needs.  Anyone wishing to help with this process should contact me.

This fall we will also be providing the Colebrook Consolidated School with all the necessary equipment to start a salmon rearing program in the classroom.  In addition, the Board has purchased a DVD/LCD player for future programs and presentations.  We have also recognized the passing of long-time FRAA friend Walt Langraf with a donation to the Barkhamsted Historical Society.  He will be sorely missed.

Finally, the membership drive added about 10 new members to our ranks.  Hopefully we’ll see everyone at the next regular meeting in September.
