Hi everyone, just a little update on what’s been happening since our last message. Our January meeting was a huge success, with our annual election of officers (we still need a secretary!), Shawn and Rich tying some great flies, and the DEP’s presentation on the state of the fishery on the Farmington. In addition, member Kierran Broatch introduced a legislative proposal for establishing a standard 100 foot riverfront buffer along all Connecticut waterways, which the club agreed to support.
The DEP informed the membership that public hearings on the 3 proposals for the expansion of the upper TMA will take place sometime at the end of February and beginning of March. The exact dates are to be announced and will be posted on our website and the various flyshops in the area. These hearings are where we get a chance to show our support for the expansion of the upper TMA and the establishment of a 2 fish, 12" limit on the lower river. Come and speak your mind!
Saturday, March 1st is the night of our annual banquet and giant raffle. Contact Tom Karpeichik for tickets. Raffle prize donations can be submitted to Classic and Custom Flyshop and are greatly appreciated.
Our next regular meeting will be on Wed., February 20th featuring pizza and a movie night with more fly tying. Come enjoy the fun! Doors will be opening at 6pm and I hope to see you all there.
Tight lines, Andy. Here are a few photos from the meeting also. Below you will find a sound clip of the report which runs about 45 minutes.
