Banquet another big success!! Hi everyone, just a little update on what’s been going on with the club. This years banquet was a another great success with 156 people in attendance. The food and raffle were awesome as usual, and a good time was had by all! I want to thank everyone involved, especially Tom and Chris Karpeichik, Dave Goulet, and Paul Keefer for their outstanding contributions. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I would also like to extend a special thanks to all those who contributed raffle prizes this year. Without your generosity the raffle would not be the outstanding success that it is.
The initial DEP public hearings on the proposed TMA expansion are over, and the overwhelming consensus was that the expansion is long over due and sorely needed to reduce river crowding in the current TMA. These hearings were only step two in about a 14 step process that would eventually change the regulations for 2009 or 10. The next stage involves the DEP writing an actual regulation package (which will probably be option #2, hopefully with little revision) and then presenting it to the various committees that need to approve it. There will be another public hearing somewhere down the road where we will need to express our support. We’ll keep you posted as the process progresses. The club has a variety of events planned for the upcoming year, including our annual cleanup after opening day, the club picnic, and we are planning a fishing outing for the membership, details to be determined. In addition, we are currently looking into finding a more centralized meeting location which would start with the fall meetings. April’s guest speaker for our next regular meeting on Wed. April 16th will be Bruce Marino fishing for sharks in Long Island Sound. Sounds like fun!! Hope to see everyone there. Tight lines, Drew.
