The TMA expansion process is finally moving along again and we need your help at the last public hearing. The final hearing will be held on Wed. March 16th at 6:30pm at the DEP’s headquarters at 79 Elm St. in Hartford. The meeting will take place in the Phoenix Auditorium. I will be giving my comments in support of the expansion as the FRAA representative, but anyone can sign up to comment. The one area that your Board does NOT support in the proposal is the loss of the barbless hook regulation in the TMA. We are making a concerted effort to get this provision changed, and everyone can help to accomplish this. If you cannot attend the hearing you can still send in your comments to the DEP regarding the expansion proposals. Attached is a link to a letter that can be sent in to the enclosed address showing your stance on this issue. Feel free to make any changes you think would be appropriate to reflect your particular feelings about the expansion. I feel that actually mailing in your letter will have more of an impact on the process, but there is also a fax# and email address that you can use. Be sure to sign the letter and include your address. The more people that respond, the better chance we have of getting the barbless hook portion back in the regulations, so please do your part!
Tight lines, Drew.
